trying to draw attention from the public about the dangers that sugar poses to our health, The Diabetes Association of Thailand commissioned Thai designer Nattakong Jaengsem to come up with a campaign that would warn the public how comsuming more than adequate amount of sugar could harm your life. And as you can see from the gruesome pictures below, the result is shockingly effective.

We all know that sugar is bad for us, but often we have the idea that it only impacts our teeth and our weight. But too much sugar in our diets can also cause Type 2 Diabetes, which decreases the body’s ability to heal substantially and can lead to cuts and sores that can then get infected and even result in amputation.

The campaign, titled “Sweet Kills”, wants to show us what Type 2 Diabetes can do, but instead of using simple photographs, Jaengsem decided to recreate diabetes-related injuries directly from the source of the cause: sweets. The resulting images may be overly dramatic to look at but it sends the massage and makes quiet an impression on the public.
